Ukraine signs agreement on exchange of customs information with Canada

On August 24, the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Serhii Marchenko, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine, Ms. Natalia Tsmots, signed an agreement on mutual administrative assistance in customs matters.

This is stated in a message by the Ministry of Finance, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The signing took place during a meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney.

The agreement provides for the exchange of information between the customs authorities of the two countries to prevent, investigate and stop violations.

It will contribute to increasing the security of the entire supply chain of goods, which is of key importance for stable economic development.

In addition, the agreement reached will help Ukraine and Canada more effectively combat smuggling, illegal trafficking in weapons, narcotics and other dangerous goods.

The document also contains clear mechanisms for protecting information, including personal data. This guarantees transparency and responsibility in the work of customs administrations.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney arrived in Kyiv for the first time on Independence Day, August 24.
