First snow falls in Carpathians on Independence Day

On August 24, on Independence Day of Ukraine, the first snow of this season was recorded in the Carpathians. Snowfall was observed on the top of Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Ivano-Frankivsk Region.

It is cloudy at the top, the air temperature is only +1°C, and the wind makes staying in the mountains especially dangerous. Rescuers warned tourists about the risk due to the cold, slippery trails and sudden changes in weather and urged them to refrain from hiking.

Precipitation in the form of snow and rain was also recorded in the Zarosliak tract.

Vasyl Fitsak, an employee of the observatory on Mount Pip Ivan from the Carpathian National University, also showed a video with the first snow.

Specialists believe that this year there will be more than one "Indian summer". The people's forecaster predicts abnormal periods of heat even in November.
