Ukraine will not give its land to enemy - Zelenskyy congratulates Ukrainians on National Flag Day

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Ukrainians on National Flag Day. He assured that Ukraine will not give its land to the enemy.

And it is the blue-and-yellow flag that Ukrainians returning from captivity see and that our compatriots who remain under occupation cherish, is a symbol that Ukraine was, is and will be. The address of the head of state on the occasion of the holiday was broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy called the blue-and-yellow flag "a feeling of salvation for the people we are returning from russian captivity," as well as a symbol of hope for those Ukrainians who are currently under occupation.

"When they see the Ukrainian colors, they understand: evil is over. And this flag is a goal and a dream for many of our people in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. They protect this flag. They protect it because they know: we will not give our land to the occupier," the President said.

The flag of Ukraine is a symbol of the most precious thing for hundreds of thousands of soldiers who defend not a separate direction, but all of Ukraine, the head of state emphasized. They, Zelenskyy emphasized, risk themselves, fighting for the right to life for our entire state.

"There is no capital in the world where life is respected and at the same time our Ukrainian flag is not respected. Wherever life is truly valuable, partnership with Ukraine becomes valuable. Ukraine unites the best. And it has already made it a common opinion of many that only together with Ukraine can guaranteed security for democratic nations be achieved. And may everyone who has made their own contribution to such a force of Ukrainian colors hear these words today. And these are, first of all, words of gratitude. This is absolutely deserved," Zelenskyy said.

He thanked everyone who fights for Ukraine and its people, everyone who works in the interests of Ukraine and its independence. Those who gave their lives for their native land - and those who continue to stand in its defense.

"I thank everyone who adds their personal strength to the strength of the Ukrainian nation. And let us definitely remember our Heroes, of different times, who, with our Ukrainian flag in their hands, on chevrons or simply in their hearts, fought for us, for Ukraine. They fought for its own will. But, unfortunately, they were killed in battles. We remember them. And we do not forgive the enemy of our losses," Zelenskyy emphasized.

The President called on those present to honor the memory of the fallen Heroes with a minute of silence.

"Long live Ukraine! May our blue-and-yellow flag always be proud! Happy Flag Day, dear Ukrainians. Glory to Ukraine," Zelenskyy concluded his speech.
