The increase in coronavirus cases, which has been ongoing since the beginning of August, may continue until the end of September this year. Deputy Minister of Health and Chief Sanitary Doctor Ihor Kuzin announced this, Interfax reports.
"We are observing increased levels of morbidity in August, and not in October, November, as it happened before. Another wave of increase in Covid cases is underway in Ukraine, it falls on August, and most likely will last until almost the end of September," he said.
It is also noted that on average, the number of those who fell ill is significantly lower compared to last year.
"If this year we have a little more than 8,000 people who have fallen ill, then in the same period last year there were 26,000 patients. We do not see a significant increase in the number of patients with severe forms or those who require hospitalization. That is, the course of the disease is normal, it does not differ in any particular severity or features, such a situation is now typical for the US and has been typical for the EU territory for the second year," he said.
It is noted that in Ukraine there will continue to be such increases in morbidity precisely in August, with the subsequent transition to SARS and flu.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, 3,540 cases of coronavirus infection were registered in Ukraine over the past week, which is three times more than last week.
On August 14, cases of new subvariants of the Omicron coronavirus - Nimbus and Stratus - were laboratory confirmed in Ukraine.
