The adoption of the special "Defense City" regime for defense industry enterprises will allow Ukraine to significantly increase the production of weapons and defense goods. According to experts, this is about volumes from USD 9 to USD 30 billion annually.
Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, emphasized this in the Telegram channel.
According to him, August 20 is a significant day for the Ukrainian defense industry, since the parliament will consider key bills on "Defense City" in the second reading on this day.
"If the vote is positive, we will be able to fully provide our army with the necessary weapons - this is a guarantee of strengthening our defense and security. The next step will be for Ukraine to become one of the largest weapons manufacturers in the world - we expect to enter the TOP-5 exporters of weapons," Hetmantsev emphasized.
The parliamentarian noted fruitful cooperation in finalizing the bills. In his opinion, this became possible thanks to the combined efforts of the Ministry of Defense, representatives of specialized associations and manufacturers.
"The bills take into account the agreed positions of the parties as much as possible. Everyone agrees that this is an extremely important initiative. I hope for full support for the bills in the second reading. We must provide all opportunities to strengthen Ukrainian defense. This is not an issue that can be postponed. Next, the mechanism will be worked out in practice, the results will be analyzed, and if necessary, the tools will be improved," Danylo Hetmantsev noted.
He emphasized the importance of further improving the documents taking into account real results.
