Ukraine launches mass production of missiles with flight range of up to 3,000 km - media

Ukraine has launched mass production of new Flamingo cruise missiles, the range of which reaches up to 3,000 kilometers. This was reported on August 17 by Ukrainian photo correspondent for The Associated Press Yefrem Lukatskyi. According to him, after successful tests, a decision was made to start mass production.

Military observers note that Flamingos are twice as powerful as the American Tomahawks.

Defense Express suggested that the name Flamingo could refer to the FP-5 missile from the Milanion Group (UAE), which supplies weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was first presented at the IDEX-2025 exhibition in February.

"Given the announced characteristics of the Flamingo and FP-5, as well as the appearance of both missiles, including the fact that we are talking about a large cruise missile with a fixed straight wing and the engine located above the fuselage, no alternatives are visible," the publication notes.

According to Defense Express, the FP-5 is capable of flying 3,000 kilometers, staying in the air for up to 4 hours, reaching speeds of up to 950 km/h, has a wingspan of 6 meters and a weight of up to 6 tons, of which a ton is for the warhead. For comparison, the weight of the Tomahawk warhead is 450 kg.

Milanion Group previously stated that it can produce up to 50 such missiles per month. In addition, satellite navigation, resistant to electronic warfare, and an inertial system were used in the development.

Recall, earlier Zelenskyy showed an enterprise in the Kyiv Region, where they create the "brain" for Ukrainian missiles and drones.

Also, a new Ukrainian drone for laser targeting has appeared in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
