Zelenskyy arrives in Washington to meet with Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Washington, where he is scheduled to meet with US President Donald Trump, as well as European leaders. The head of state announced this in his Telegram channel.

Zelenskyy thanked Trump for the invitation and stressed that "we all equally want to quickly and reliably end this war and the peace should be lasting."

"Not like it was years ago, when Ukraine was forced to give up Crimea and part of our East - part of Donbas, and putin simply used it as a springboard for a new attack. Or when Ukraine was given alleged "security guarantees" in 1994, but it didn't work," he added.

According to Zelenskyy, it was not worth giving Crimea to the occupiers then "just as after 2022, Ukrainians did not give up Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv."

"Ukrainians are fighting for their land, for their independence. Now our soldiers are having successes in the Donetsk and Sumy Regions. I am sure that we will protect Ukraine, effectively guarantee security, and our people will always be grateful to President Trump, everyone in America, every partner, for their support and invaluable assistance. Russia must end this war, which it itself started. And I hope that our joint strength with America, with our European friends, will force russia to make real peace. Thank you!" Zelenskyy summed up.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, according to media reports, seven European leaders will take part in the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington on August 18.
