President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, referring to intelligence data, predicted that in the coming days russia may increase pressure and strikes on Ukrainian positions in order to create more favorable conditions for negotiations. He assured that Ukraine will counter this - "if necessary, then asymmetrically".
The Head of State wrote about this on his page after the report of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.
According to the President, Ukrainian units are holding positions along the entire front line and have been successful for the second day in a row in extremely difficult sections of the Donetsk Region - in the direction of Dobropillia and Pokrovsk.
"The destruction of the occupiers who tried to infiltrate deep into our positions continues. There is an important replenishment of the exchange fund for Ukraine by the Russian military," Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
The President noted the effective work of the units of the 79th and 82nd air assault brigades, the 1st and 425th separate assault regiments, the 25th separate assault battalion and other formations performing tasks on the Pokrovsk axis.
"We are recording the movement and preparation of Russian troops. Of course, we will counter — if necessary, asymmetrically. I asked the Commander-in-Chief to talk to the combat commanders. Ukraine needs strong positions and truly tangible counteraction to the enemy," the President concluded.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, since the beginning of August 16, 68 combat clashes have taken place on the russian-Ukrainian front.
