The Ukrainian military received a radio intercept from the invaders about the loss of contact with the Su-30SM fighter. The plane was performing a mission southeast of the Zmiinyi Island.
The invaders' fighter probably crashed for unknown reasons. It is known that the invaders are conducting a search and rescue operation.
According to the radio intercept, the russians managed to find the wreckage of the plane. The pilots (Su-30SM is a two-seater plane) of the fighter have not yet been found.
At the time of publication of the news, the russian Ministry of Defense or the russian media did not confirm or deny this information.
The Su-30SM is a modification of the fourth-generation Su-30 fighter. They have been in service since September 2012. The cost of one Su-30SM aircraft was USD 50 million as of 2012.
