US President Donald Trump said that, in his opinion, russian leader vladimir putin is ready to make a deal to end the war in Ukraine. His words were quoted by Reuters on Thursday, August 14.
During the meeting in Alaska, border issues will be raised, as well as a ceasefire, the US president noted.
"I think he (putin – Ed.) is going to make a deal," Trump said.
According to him, if the meeting in Alaska goes well, he will call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders after it. If the meeting goes badly, Trump will not call anyone. At the same time, Trump announced a press conference after talks with putin, but he does not know whether it will be a joint one.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 12, Dmitry Suslov, deputy director of the Center for European and International Studies at the Higher School of Economics and a long-time kremlin adviser on foreign policy, voiced putin's demands for a deal with Trump.
On August 13, Politico reported five demands from Ukraine for negotiations with the aggressor country russia.
As a reminder, Trump and putin will meet in Alaska on August 15. It will be dedicated, in particular, to russia's war against Ukraine.
