Germany allocates USD 500 million for procurement of US weapons for Ukraine – Zelenskyy

Germany has allocated USD 500 million for the procurement of US weapons for Ukraine within the framework of the new Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) mechanism. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Our new PURL defense support initiative, implemented jointly with partners, is already yielding tangible results. Today we already have USD 1.5 billion... Today, the Netherlands has contributed USD 500 million, the joint contribution of Denmark, Norway and Sweden has reached USD 500 million, and yesterday Germany added another USD 500 million. This is truly a significant reinforcement, and I am grateful to Germany for this important step," he said.

Zelenskyy noted that thanks to NATO's PURL initiative, Alliance member countries can cooperate to purchase weapons manufactured in the United States for Ukraine, and Ukraine continues to discuss this possibility with other countries.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, it was previously announced that Sweden, together with Norway and Denmark, are allocating USD 486 million to the PURL initiative, while the Netherlands announced a contribution of EUR 500 million to PURL, the funds will be used to purchase, in particular, missiles for Patriot systems.
