EU leaders noted after their conversation with Trump that the US President agrees with their position on Ukraine. In particular, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz told reporters that the US President knows Europe's position and "broadly shares it".

French President Emmanuel Macron noted that Trump would "fight" for a trilateral meeting between putin and Zelenskyy. Macron also said that Trump "made it very clear that the US wants to achieve a ceasefire at the meeting in Alaska" and that Trump made it clear "that territories that belong to Ukraine cannot be the subject of negotiations and will be held only by the President of Ukraine".
