As part of the implementation of the memorandum on readiness to finance the restoration of energy infrastructure damaged by massive attacks by the russian federation, banks have provided financing for business projects to restore energy generation with a capacity of 993 MW.
This is evidenced by data from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to a survey of banks, in addition to energy generation, for the period from June 1, 2024 to August 1, 2025, banks provided financing for business projects in energy storage and heat generation for 389 MW.
In total, during this period, banks provided financing for energy restoration projects in 21 regions of the country for UAH 26.2 billion, including 1,998 business loans for UAH 24.7 billion and 9,645 loans to the population for UAH 1.4 billion.
The gross portfolio of "energy" loans to legal entities, taking into account their repayments, as of August 1 reached UAH 16.6 billion, to individuals - UAH 1.2 billion.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the energy sector is recognized as one of the priorities within the framework of the Strategy for the Development of Lending developed by the National Bank together with the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance.
Within the framework of the Strategy, the National Bank has implemented a number of steps to activate lending to priority sectors.
In particular, to stimulate financing of the energy sector, the requirements for banks' assessment of credit risks have been revised and the coefficients for taking into account the cost of energy equipment when it is accepted by banks as collateral for the relevant loans have been increased.
