Budanov checks Defense Intelligence's positions on Zmiinyi Island and gas platforms – Black Sea area under full control

The head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, checked the positions of the fighters of the "Tymur Special Unit" on Zmiinyi Island and gas production platforms in the Black Sea. It was reported on the Facebook page of the Defense Intelligence. The inspection confirmed that the North-Western Black Sea area is fully under Ukrainian control.

"The Head of Defense Intelligence inspected the forces and means involved in the defense of the water area, in particular the so-called "towers", which, as a result of successful operations of the Defense Intelligence and other components of the Security and Defense Forces, have been returned to the legal control of Ukraine. As part of his trip to the Black Sea region, Kyrylo Budanov held a meeting with officers on further actions within the framework of the overall strategy, and also awarded the Defense Intelligence fighters from the "Tymur Special Unit" for their professionalism and courage during the defense of our state in the conditions of the war with Russia in the Black Sea," the Defense Intelligence report says.

Together with the fighters, Budanov honored the memory of the soldiers who fell during the liberation of the Zmiinyi and Ukrainian territorial waters of the Black Sea from the russian occupiers.

"Honor to the fighters of the Defense Intelligence and all the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine! Our effective fight against the aggressor at sea, on land and in the sky has proven to the whole world that a united Ukrainian nation is capable of defeating even a stronger enemy. No matter what anyone says, the future of Ukraine depends only on us. The fight continues," said Kyrylo Budanov.

Recall that Zmiinyi Island was liberated from the occupiers on June 30, 2022. And in September 2023, Defense Intelligence special forces regained control over the gas drilling platforms in the Black Sea, which were seized by russia in 2014.
