During the period from 2019 to 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia lost 1,087 cars, which was the reason for a large shortage of train tickets. The company reported this at the presentation of a plan to overcome the shortage of tickets, LIGA.net reports.
It is reported that in the period from 2019 to 2024, 265 passenger cars remained in the occupied territory, 28 were destroyed, and 794 reached their service life limit.
Also, in 2025-2029, another 300 cars will have to be decommissioned - due to reaching the service life limit. It is noted that in 2012-2015, Ukrzaliznytsia did not buy a single new car.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, railway tickets should remain available at least until the end of martial law, but in the meantime, the cost of individual tickets can be increased without waiting for the end of hostilities.
Earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia told at what time the demand for railway transportation falls and in which months the fewest people try to buy a train ticket.
On August 6, Ukrzaliznytsia announced that it had entered the peak August season of railway transportation.
