Defense Ministry increases funding for battalions on front line – Shmyhal

From now on, each brigade will receive UAH 7 million for each battalion operating on front line. Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Shmyhal, in particular, reported that following the meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, a decision was made to increase the volume of direct funding for brigades for procurement, which will give combat units more opportunities to independently meet their needs.

Funding will increase in accordance with the number of battalions performing combat missions.

"By order of the President, from now on, each brigade will receive UAH 7 million for each battalion operating on the front line. This means more drones and other necessary equipment," the minister said.

Shmyhal reported that, in order to implement the Staff 'sdecision, an operational meeting of the budget commission was held at the Ministry of Defense, at which funds were redistributed to increase funding for battalions currently operating on the front line. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is forming a list of such units.

"The task is to transfer the funds as quickly as possible," Shmyhal emphasized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early August, Zelenskyy instructed to increase direct funding to brigades for the purchase of drones.
