Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has acknowledged the possibility that Kyiv will be forced to agree to the retention of territories that it has already occupied under russian control.
The Telegraph reported this with reference to European diplomats and Western officials.
According to them, in a conversation with European leaders, Zelenskyy suggested that Ukraine would probably have to accept the loss of these regions. At the same time, he rejected US President Donald Trump's proposal to transfer territories that are not currently under its control to russia.
The publication notes that in this way the Ukrainian leader is softening his public position on the eve of the meeting between Trump and russian president vladimir putin in Alaska.
Recall, Zelenskyy previously stated that the answer to the question of territorial integrity is contained in the Constitution of Ukraine, and no one will deviate from it. He emphasized: any peace solutions adopted without the participation of Ukraine are "dead" and will never work. He also believes that russia is not preparing for a ceasefire, but is moving its troops in order to launch new offensive actions.
