Azerbaijan and Armenia have published the text of the Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Inter-State relations, which was signed by President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Washington last Saturday, August 9.
The document was published today, August 11, on the websites of the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The treaty includes 17 articles. They state that Azerbaijan and Armenia confirmed the borders between the Soviet socialist republics of the former USSR as the international borders of the respective independent states and recognized them as such by the international community.
Baku and Yerevan declared their recognition of each other's territorial integrity, inviolability of international borders and political independence.
The countries have confirmed the renunciation of territorial claims to each other, as well as the fact that the presence of armed forces of third countries on their territories is prohibited. This excludes the presence of russian peacekeepers in the region.
The countries also promised to withdraw all international claims and complaints against each other within a month after the treaty enters into force.
The treaty provides for the restoration of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
In addition, Azerbaijan and Armenia undertake to search for and exchange information about the fate of people who are considered missing as a result of armed conflicts between the countries.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 9, Azerbaijan and Armenia, through the mediation of US President Donald Trump, signed a peace agreement aimed at normalizing relations after 35 years of conflict.
