Azerbaijan has allocated USD 2 million for the procurement and shipment of power equipment to Ukraine as humanitarian aid. The corresponding decree was signed by President Ilham Aliyev.
The financing will come from the presidential reserve fund, provided for in the state budget for 2025. The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan will use these funds to purchase domestic power equipment and its subsequent shipment to Ukraine as humanitarian aid.
The document notes that humanitarian aid is a manifestation of the principles of humanism and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine. The bilateral partnership is developing on the basis of a number of agreements, in particular the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership of 2000, the Declaration on Friendship and Strategic Partnership of 2008 and the joint statement of the presidents of the two countries dated January 14, 2022.
Azerbaijan has repeatedly provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine after the start of a full-scale war, the official statement emphasized.
Recall that earlier the russian federation attacked the gas transmission system through which gas from the United States and Azerbaijan was supplied to Ukraine.
Russia also struck the Azerbaijani SOCAR oil depot in Ukraine.
