The occupancy rate of European underground gas storage facilities (UGS) exceeded 70% on August 5.
The ExPro publication announced this, citing GIE data, Ukrainian News reports.
The report states that almost 75 billion cubic meters of natural gas are stored in the storage facilities.
European countries have increased gas reserves in storage facilities by 10% over the past month, since July 5, when 60% of the capacity was reached.
In total, about 10.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas were pumped into the storage facilities during this period.

It is noted that as of August 5, the largest volume of natural gas among the countries is stored in Italy - almost 15.7 billion cubic meters, which is 82% of the capacity.
In second place according to this indicator is Germany, which has accumulated about 14.7 billion cubic meters of gas (62.9%).
France is in third place with 9.35 billion cubic meters (78.8%).
The highest level of storage filling is recorded in Portugal - 100%.
High levels are also observed in Belgium (90.1%), Italy (82%), Spain (80.2%) and France (78.8%). The lowest filling rates are currently in Denmark - 37.5%, Latvia - 50.1% and Sweden - 50.6%.
In 2025, the EU updated the rules on the gas storage filling target to 90%, extending it until 2027, but introducing more flexibility.
Countries can now reach this level at any time between 1 October and 1 December, without the obligation to maintain it until the end of the year.
Temporary deviations of up to 10-15% are also allowed in case of emergency circumstances.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the occupancy rate of European underground gas storage facilities (UGS) exceeded 60% on July 5.
The storage facilities store 64.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
