Cabinet expands categories of military personnel who will be able to receive UAH 1 million

The Cabinet of Ministers has expanded the categories of military personnel who will be able to receive a one-time cash payment of UAH 1 million. This is stated in a message of the Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The categories of military personnel who will be able to receive a one-time cash payment of UAH 1 million have been expanded. These include those who joined the army before the age of 25, from the moment martial law was declared - before the official start of the project (February 2025)," the message says.

In particular, these include those who, from February 24, 2022, joined the army at the age of 25 and served in the positions of private, sergeant and foreman, and as of February 13, 2025, had at least 6 months of participation in hostilities.

This norm is extended to:

Conscripts who signed a contract after the start of large-scale aggression;

Servicemen who were certified for the award of an officer rank.

A new government decision, which will apply to all categories of contract soldiers aged 18-24, is also the possibility of increasing the amount of a one-time cash benefit after signing a contract. Such decisions can be made by the Minister of Defense, based on the available cash benefit fund provided for in the ministry's budget. In this case, the Minister will establish the specific amount of the benefit and the procedure for its payment by his decision.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 30, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to launch a separate direction of the Contract 18-24 program for drone operators with a two-year service term.

In February, the Ministry of Defense officially launched the Contract 18-24 project - an initiative for volunteers aged 18-24 who are ready to join the Defense Forces of Ukraine for one year. A 1-year contract provides for a remuneration of UAH 1 million, the possibility of a "zero" mortgage, education at state expense, free medical care, including dental prosthetics, the right to travel abroad after a year of service, and guaranteed exemption from mobilization for 12 months after the end of the contract.
