The Ministry of Defense explained the features of the new contract for citizens under the age of 25 who want to join the army as unmanned systems operators. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The contract for the positions of unmanned systems operators will be concluded for 2 years, its mandatory condition is direct participation in combat operations for at least 12 months.
Taking into account the specifics of unmanned systems operation, the training period for such recruits has been increased from 3 to 4 months. The training will include, in particular:
basic combined arms training lasting up to 45 days;
professional training - from 5 days to 60 days;
adaptation course in a military unit - 14 days.
At the same time, if the recruit has an appropriate certificate of a specialist in the operation of the unmanned systems, it can be taken into account when setting the terms of professional training.
In case of failure to pass the final control over the results of professional training, the possibility of transferring servicemen to other positions related to the operation of the unmanned systems is provided, while maintaining the terms of the contract.
The mechanism for paying a one-time cash allowance for volunteers for unmanned systems operators' positions is preserved:
UAH 200,000 immediately upon signing the contract;
UAH 300,000 after completing training and starting service;
UAH 500,000 after the end of the two-year contract upon fulfillment of its terms (in particular, 12 months of participation in combat operations).
In the event of termination or cancellation of martial law or failure to fulfill the terms of the contract regarding the terms of mandatory participation in hostilities, the unpaid third part of the lump-sum cash benefit will be paid in proportion to the time of military service at the rate of 1/12 of UAH 500,000 for every 30 days of service.
Volunteers under this contract will have the same benefits as other participants in the experimental project, namely:
the possibility of obtaining a mortgage at 0%;
free education within the framework of a state order;
a social package for a serviceman;
medical care.
Project participants, after fulfilling the terms of a two-year contract, will also have the right to a deferral of conscription for 1 year and the right to freely travel abroad.
In addition to the lump-sum cash benefit, they will have a cash benefit that can reach up to UAH 120,000/month.
Selection of candidates, provision of advisory and explanatory assistance will be carried out by recruiting centers and recruiting units of military units.
It will be possible to serve under this type of contract in the positions of privates in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard and the State Border Guard Service. The specific list of full-time positions under this type of contract will be determined by a separate decision of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Main Directorate of the National Guard and the Administration of the State Border Guard Service.
Today, 24 brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 5 units of the National Guard and 4 units of the State Border Guard Service are participating in the pilot project.
Citizens of this category who wish to join the army must submit a corresponding application in paper or electronic form to recruiting centers or through an electronic account in Reserve+.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 30, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to launch a separate direction of the Contract 18-24 program for drone operators with a two-year service term.
In February, the Ministry of Defense officially launched the Contract 18-24 project - an initiative for volunteers aged 18-24 who are ready to join the Defense Forces of Ukraine for one year. The 1-year contract provides for a reward of UAH 1 million, the possibility of a "zero" mortgage, education at state expense, free medical care, including dental prosthetics, the right to travel abroad after a year of service, and guaranteed exemption from mobilization for 12 months after the end of the contract.
