President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in favor of expanding the "18-24 Contract" program, in particular with increasing age. Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The program should be expanded. We discussed some options today, including increasing the age and the circumstances under which such a contract format could be concluded. The Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, and the Office team should present the details to the public," he said.
Zelenskyy noted that the ways to implement the decisions should be presented to him on Monday, August 11.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy also instructed to increase direct funding for brigades to purchase drones, to provide for simplification of procedures and direct funding for the purchase of pickup trucks by the military, and to improve the training of military personnel in training centers.
In July, on Zelenskyy's instructions, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to launch a separate direction of the "Contract 18-24" program for drone operators with a two-year service term.
In February, the Ministry of Defense officially launched the "Contract 18-24" project - an initiative for volunteers aged 18-24 who are ready to join the Defense Forces of Ukraine for one year. The 1-year contract provides for a reward of UAH 1 million, the possibility of a "zero" mortgage, education at state expense, free medical care, including dental prosthetics, the right to travel abroad after a year of service, and guaranteed exemption from mobilization for 12 months after the end of the contract.
