Russia announces abandonment of moratorium on deployment of medium- and shorter-range missiles

The aggressor country of russia is abandoning a unilateral moratorium on limiting the deployment of medium- and shorter-range missiles. This was reported by Meduza and DW on Monday, August 4, citing the russian foreign ministry.

The russian foreign ministry justified its decision by saying that the collective West is allegedly building up a "destabilizing missile potential" in the surrounding regions. In addition, the department emphasized that the conditions for "self-restraint" and for "maintaining this moratorium" have disappeared.

"The decisions on the specific parameters of response measures will be made by the leadership of the russian federation based on an interagency analysis of the scale of the deployment of American and other Western ground-based medium- and shorter-range missiles," the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry stated that the United States is allegedly already deploying American-made land-based missiles in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, and "the necessary infrastructure is being prepared" in various regions.
