Trump says what will happen if russia does not agree to ceasefire in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump reminded of sanctions if russia does not agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine on August 8.

He stated this during a conversation with media representatives.

Answering questions from journalists, Trump suggested that sanctions would not have the desired effect on russia.

"Well, there'll be sanctions, but they seem to be pretty good at avoiding sanctions. They're wily characters and they're pretty good at avoiding sanctions, so we'll see what happens. So we'll see what happens," Trump said.

US envoy may leave for russia this week - Trump also mentioned sanctions

The American president also announced a visit to russia by US special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, but did not name an exact date.

"He may be going, I think next week, Wednesday or Thursday, maybe going to Russia. They would like to see him. They've asked that he meet. So we'll see what happens," Trump said.

But, according to him, the focus of Witkoff's attention will remain the problem of the Gaza Strip.

Recall that Trump said that russian dictator vladimir putin has 10 days to cease fire in Ukraine, otherwise Washington will impose promised tariffs against moscow.
