Ukrainian racer Oleksandr Bondarev has won his first victory in the Italian Formula 4. This happened on August 3 during the race in Imola, Champion reports.
Back on August 1, Bondarev, who drives for the Prema Racing team, showed the best time in qualifying, thanks to which he started from the first position. Although the race was intense and did not start perfectly for him, he was able to regain the lead closer to the finish line.
As a result, the 16-year-old Ukrainian finished first and won a historic victory. This is not only his personal breakthrough, but also an important step in the fight for the first places in the championship.

Thanks to this victory, Bondarev received 25 points and strengthened his positions both in the overall standings and among rookies.
"It was just an incredible race. We lost the lead on the first lap, but I knew that we had the speed. So I just waited for the right moment to overtake, and then I controlled the race. So yes, I am infinitely grateful to the whole team. They helped me improve my speed and driving style.", — Bondarev said in a comment to Tribuna.com.
For the first time in the history of Formula, the Ukrainian anthem sounded on the podium.

For most of the race, 16-year-old Oleksandr was running second, but three minutes before the end of the race he managed to pass his teammate.

Meanwhile, in Formula 1, McLaren driver Lando Norris won the Hungarian Grand Prix from third place. This is his fifth win of the season. His teammate Oscar Piastre finished second, and Mercedes' George Russell took third place. Lewis Hamilton, who complained about his failed qualifying the day before, finished twelfth.
