A drone that flew into Lithuania from Belarus was discovered at the Gaižiunai training ground. According to preliminary data, it is a Gerbera drone. It was stated in a message on the official Facebook account of the Lithuanian Armed Forces on Friday, August 1.

The drone is currently being checked to see if it poses a threat. The object was detected using a drone. According to preliminary data, the drone is a russian Gerbera. LRT reported that Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Šakalienė stated that while russia is attacking Ukraine, such incidents will become more frequent, and Lithuania must be ready for them.

"Together with the Ministry of Transport, within a few weeks we will complete the division of airspace into certain zones and corridors so that, at the instruction of the head of the army, it will be possible to automatically close certain areas of the sky and safely destroy such objects," Šakalienė said.

At the same time, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense has been accelerating the development of safe and effective methods of neutralizing objects such as drones in the country's airspace since June.
