On the night of August 2, explosions were heard in a number of regions of russia, accompanied by the operation of air defense systems. Eyewitnesses report an attack by drones and a large fire at one of the oil refineries.

A video of a large fire, probably on the territory of the Novokuybyshevsk refinery in the Samara Oblast, appeared on social networks. The footage demonstrates sounds similar to drones flying and air defense systems operating.
The governor of the Samara Oblast, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, confirmed the drone strike on Novokuibyshevsk.
"This morning, enemy UAVs attacked one of the industrial enterprises in Novokuybyshevsk. Operational services are working on the site," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
He also reported that temporary restrictions on mobile internet service have been introduced in the region, and the Samara airport has suspended operations.
Drones also likely hit JSC "Production Association "Elektropribor" in the city of Penza, Penza Oblast. This enterprise is directly related to the defense sector of the russian federation. It specializes in the production of control elements for russian missile systems and communication systems.
Nearby is the only russian defense plant that produces combat control points for air defense units - JSC "Radiozavod", which was also likely hit.
Residents of Ryazan also report explosions and air defense operations. According to eyewitnesses, loud explosions were heard near the Diagilevo airfield, located in the Ryazan Oblast.
Ryazan Oblast Governor Pavel Malkov said that "air defense and electronic warfare means shot down a UAV over the territory of the region." According to him, there were no victims, and the fragments of the drones fell on the territory of the enterprise.
Residents of Lipetsk and Voronezh Oblasts also reported the UAV attack and the work of air defense.
