Kyiv declares August 1 Day of Mourning

August 1 has been declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv in memory of the victims of the massive attack by the aggressor country russia on the capital on the night of July 31. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Tomorrow, August 1, has been declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv. In memory of the victims of the massive attack by the enemy on the capital," he said.

Klitschko noted that flags on all municipal buildings in the city will be flown at half-mast on this day. It is also recommended that state flags be lowered on buildings of state and private ownership.

Any entertainment events are prohibited in the city on August 1.

Klitschko reported that according to medical data, as a result of the enemy's attack on the capital last night, 8 people have been confirmed dead, including one child (a six-year-old boy), 135 residents of Kyiv have been injured, including 12 children. 30 injured are in hospital, including 5 children. 97 people received medical assistance on an outpatient basis.

At the same time, the State Emergency Service (SESU) reported that the number of killed and injured as a result of the russian attack that occurred on the night of Thursday, July 31, increased to 12, and 132 people were injured, among the killed and wounded are children. Rescuers continue to work at the sites of the attacks, and emergency and search operations are ongoing.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of July 31, russian terrorist troops launched a combined strike on Kyiv.

On July 31, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the aggressor country russia launched more than 300 drones and 8 missiles, the main target being Kyiv.
