Odesa Commercial Sea Port (SE OCSP) is changing the currency for paying for its services - first of all, this will affect the towing of ships to berths.
This is written by Dumska, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The report says that the acting director of the port, Oleksii Miaskovskyi, told Dumska about the innovation.
"Ukraine seeks to join the European Union, so the base currency will now be the euro, not the dollar. This fits into the strategy of our country. Initially, the tariff for the escort of ships was set in dollars, but now it is changing to euros. The system for calculating the escort tariff itself will be the same, its basis will remain the so-called vessel module - this is the product of the length, width and height of the ship's side, multiplied by the port coefficient," Miaskovskyi noted.
Miaskovskyi noted that the new payment rules will come into force from August 1 of this year.
They apply to all foreign vessels, regardless of the company.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the National Bank of Ukraine is considering changing the base currency for currency policy orientation - from the US dollar to the euro.
Such a scenario is still hypothetical, but is due to a number of geopolitical and economic factors.
