A russian military intelligence (GRU) agent was exposed in the ranks of the Defense Forces. He turned out to be an instructor pilot, a major in one of the air brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is stated in the message of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).
According to the SSU, the unit in which the attacker served performs combat missions to shoot down enemy missiles and drones, and also practices on ground targets, supporting the operations of the Ukrainian army from the air.
The investigation established that the enemy agent performed several tasks simultaneously.
First, he transmitted information to prepare new missile and drone attacks by the aggressor country, the russian federation, on air force facilities. In particular, the enemy's priority targets were airfields where F-16, Mirage 2000 and Su-24 aircraft were based. The agent collected the coordinates of the location of these aircraft, schedules and the principle of the order of their departure. In addition, to ensure the success of the enemy strike, the attacker prepared and transferred to the occupiers an analytical report on the necessary, in his opinion, tactics of combined strikes. This was supposed to allow the russians to strike "bypassing" the defense of the relevant military facilities.
Secondly, the agent transferred to russian military intelligence the personal data of the pilots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the tail numbers and armament of their aircraft, and the tactics of combat missions.
For the conspiracy, he contacted the russian special serviceman via an anonymous e-mail channel and used "secret chats" in messengers.
The SSU employees documented the agent's crimes and detained him after he attempted to collect a "new portion" of information.
It is noted that the Security Service investigators plan to inform the detainee of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
The perpetrator faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Security Service of Ukraine prevented the contract killing of the commander of the 108th separate battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Da Vinci Wolves" Serhii Filimonov. The attempt on his life was prepared by the FSB. To commit the crime, the russian special service recruited a resident of the Dnipropetrovsk Region under the guise of working for the SSU.
