OpenAI has announced the launch of a new study mode in ChatGPT, which aims to deepen understanding and help students learn, rather than just getting ready-made answers. The company's press service reported this on the social network X.
The new functionality helps you work through problems step-by-step, using the Socratic questioning method and step-by-step hints. This allows the student to reach the solution himself, strengthening critical thinking skills.
As ChatGPT becomes a go-to tool for students, we’re committed to ensuring it fosters deeper understanding and learning.

The educational mode is already available to authorized users in the Free, Plus, Pro and Team plans, and the function will be launched in ChatGPT Edu within a few weeks.
OpenAI emphasizes that they created the mode together with teachers and education professionals. This is just the first initiative in a long-term research on the role of artificial intelligence in education. The company is conducting them together with the Stanford SCALE initiative and the NextGenAI program.
Recall that ChatGPT receives more than 2.5 billion requests every day.
Meanwhile, a new study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has revealed a disturbing trend: regular use of ChatGPT can reduce cognitive activity, weaken the ability to remember, and reduce motivation for independent thinking.
