Ukraine will initiate the inclusion of ambassadors of the Republic of Burundi Joseph Nkurunziza, the Republic of Guinea Nyankoye Haba and the Republic of Chad Adam Beshir Mahamoud in russia on the sanctions lists for an illegal visit to the temporarily occupied Crimea. This is stated in the Comment by the MFA of Ukraine on the Illegal Visit of Ambassadors of the Republics of Burundi, Guinea, and Chad to the Temporarily Occupied Crimea, published on Tuesday, July 29.
The department explained that the aggressor country russia uses the visits of diplomats of third states to create the illusion of recognition of the occupied Crimea and to create propaganda. The visit of the ambassadors of Burundi, Guinea and Chad grossly violates international law and the legislation of Ukraine, the MFA emphasized.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expects that the respective foreign governments will duly assess the conduct of their representatives, whose reckless actions harm bilateral relations with Ukraine and damage the reputation of their own states in the international arena. Ukraine reserves the right to take appropriate political and diplomatic measures in response to these unfriendly acts and will initiate the inclusion of the aforementioned individuals in relevant sanctions lists," the statement says.
In addition, Ukraine expects an appropriate reaction from the governments of the aforementioned countries to such actions of their representatives.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in the first half of 2025, the occupation authorities of the temporarily occupied Crimea received more than USD 28 million from the so-called "nationalization" of Ukrainian property.
On July 18, the occupation authorities in Crimea introduced new bans for the media.
