The Verkhovna Rada's Anti-Corruption Policy Committee has supported President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's bill on restoring the independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO). This is stated in a Verkhovna Rada message on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The Anti-Corruption Policy Committee supported the presidential bill on the NABU and the SAPO (Register No. 13533)," the message says.
NABU Chairman Semen Kryvonos took part in the committee meeting.
It is noted that the bill aims to guarantee the strengthening of the institutional independence of the NABU and the SAPO, as well as to ensure reliable protection of their activities from the influence and interference of the aggressor state.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 24, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted for approval to the Rada bill No. 13533 on strengthening the powers of the NABU and the SAPO after several days of protests against the adoption of bill No. 12414, which reduces the independence of anti-corruption bodies, which Zelenskyy signed, and concerns from international partners.

The main profile committee of the Rada on this bill is the Committee on Law Enforcement Activities, the meeting of which is scheduled for July 30.
