UN assistance for pensioners and disabled people suspended due to lack of funding – Ministry of Social Policy

UN assistance for pensioners and disabled people was suspended due to lack of funding. The Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity has announced this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"This month, due to limited financial resources, the UN WFP program was completed. July payments are the last within the framework of this program. In the event of additional funding, the program may be resumed or replaced with another form of assistance," the report says.

The Ministry of Social Policy notes that since August 2023, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Pension Fund and the UN World Food Program (WFP) have launched a joint project, thanks to which people from vulnerable categories who live in areas of active or possible hostilities, have low incomes and do not receive other cash assistance from international organizations, were able to receive additional financial support.

Every month, approximately 390,000 Ukrainians received about UAH 219 million in assistance - in total, under the program, they received payments in the amount of more than UAH 5 billion.

Payments were provided to pensioners, persons not entitled to a pension and persons with disabilities, including children who receive a pension or social assistance from the state of less than UAH 3,250 per month and live in the front-line regions of the Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Sumy Regions.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the UN World Food Programme previously extended its financial assistance to Ukrainian pensioners and people with disabilities until the end of July 2025.
