President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the night of July 28 shelling of Ukraine noted that the authorities and the military continue to strengthen the Ukrainian air shield. Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
In particular, he noted the good work of the drones-interceptors of Shaheds.
"Tonight, units of our unmanned systems, army aviation and Air Forces aviation, anti-aircraft guns, air defense units, mobile fire groups worked actively. In total, the defenders of the sky accounted for several hundred Russian strike drones just this night. Good results in unmanned defense against the Shaheds - dozens of downed Russian drones. Several missiles were also shot down overnight. Unfortunately, not all, there were also hits," he said.
At the same time, he stressed the need to continue strengthening the Ukrainian air shield.
"We are constantly strengthening the Ukrainian air shield, and it is very important to maintain a full understanding among partners of what exactly they can help with. Step by step, we are closing the funding gap for the production of drones, and this week I will have new conversations with partners on this task. The Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council are carrying out relevant instructions at their level," the President noted.
Zelenskyy reported that now, after the russian night shelling, restoration and rescue work is underway, in particular, this concerns power supply, necessary assistance is being provided to the wounded: as of now, 8 wounded are known.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of Monday, July 28, russian troops launched 324 drones and 7 missiles of various types over the territory of Ukraine, and air defense forces managed to neutralize 309 drones and 2 cruise missiles.
