There is no electricity shortage in Ukraine, but russian shelling of energy infrastructure remains a potential factor of destabilization. Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk said this on the air of a telethon.
"The main threat to energy supply is new massive attacks from the russian federation. But thanks to the prompt repair of damage and the formed reserves of equipment, we manage to avoid outages," he says.
Kolisnyk called on Ukrainians to use electrical appliances sparingly, especially during peak load hours. At the same time, he assured that power outages are not currently expected.
The Deputy Minister explained that although consumption increases during the heat, the energy system remains balanced, because the ministry has taken into account all factors that affect consumption, including temperature.
According to Kolisnyk, the physical protection of energy facilities is also being strengthened, equipment reserves are being increased in order to speed up repairs. In addition, the Ministry of Energy is looking for additional opportunities to attract funds to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine - both for the purchase of natural gas and for the purchase of equipment for energy sector enterprises.
"We are actively accumulating natural gas in storage facilities, the pumping rate is higher than last year. Also, due to interstate connections with almost all neighboring countries, we are diversifying supplies and can import energy resources during the heating season," the Deputy Minister added.
We will remind, this year 90% of attacks on energy infrastructure were carried out by the enemy using UAVs.
