During a meeting at the UN last night, the United States reminded russia of US President Donald Trump's ultimatum to agree to peace in Ukraine within 50 days and noted that China continues to supply dual-use goods to russia.
This was stated by the acting US permanent representative to the UN, Ambassador Dorothy Shea, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, quoted by Ukrinform.
Shea recalled that on July 14, Trump warned russian ruler vladimir putin about the need to conclude a peace agreement within 50 days.
"If the russian federation does not agree to cease attacks within this period, the United States is ready to take further measures," the Ambassador said.
She recalled that more than 100 days ago, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution calling for a quick end to the war and the establishment of a lasting peace in Ukraine. And while this has contributed to the talks in Saudi Arabia and Istanbul, the progress "falls far short of" the actions needed for peace.
"The russian federation continues to kill Ukrainian civilians. Russian drones and missiles strike schools, playgrounds, apartment buildings, nursing homes. Russia has deployed thousands of DPRK troops to the front lines and sent tens of thousands of russian soldiers to die on the battlefield," the American diplomat emphasized.
She also drew attention to the continued export of dual-use goods from China to the russian federation, which contribute to russia's military-industrial production and allow it to carry out attacks against peaceful cities in Ukraine.
"Beijing's statement on the introduction of strict controls on the export of dual-use goods simply crumbles against the background of the daily detection of Chinese-made components in drones, weapons and vehicles that russia uses against Ukraine," Ambassador Shea emphasized in her speech.
