US President Donald Trump confirmed that he will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and russian dictator vladimir putin. He told reporters before a trip to Scotland on Friday, July 25.
The US President was asked what needs to be done to force Zelenskyy and putin to sit down at the negotiating table, perhaps Trump's participation will affect this.
"It will happen. But it should have happened three months ago," Trump said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, during the talks in Istanbul, the Ukrainian delegation proposed holding a meeting of the leaders of Ukraine and russia with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump by the end of August.
On July 23, a new round of talks between Ukraine and russia took place in Istanbul.
On July 22, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there was no reason to expect breakthroughs from the third round of direct negotiations with Ukraine.
