The atmosphere during the third round of talks with the aggressor country russia in Istanbul (Turkey) was different and more constructive compared to the previous two.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi has stated this to journalists, Ukrinform reports.
"The atmosphere of the third round of talks in Istanbul was somewhat different from the previous ones. There were fewer emotions and lyrical component. It was a calm and constructive conversation. Of course, the parties emphasized their positions. The atmosphere itself was more down-to-earth," Tykhyi said.
The representative of the Foreign Ministry also noted the role of Turkey and its President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in organizing the talks.
"President Erdogan is a person who is making a lot of efforts to achieve peace and resolve issues. We are grateful for this leadership, strength, for his decisive contribution, support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine. We appreciate it very much... We are grateful to Turkey for providing this platform for dialogue," he added.
In particular, Tykhyi recalled Erdogan's role in the work of the Black Sea Grain Initiative and noted that the meeting of Ukrainian representatives with the Turkish leader in Ankara was very friendly and constructive, in particular, they discussed ways to achieve peace and further steps in this direction.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 23, the third round of negotiations between Ukraine and russia took place in Istanbul. The negotiations lasted less than an hour. The Ukrainian delegation, headed by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, raised the issue of a ceasefire, the release of prisoners, and preparations for a meeting of leaders for a just peace.
