Ukraine and Israel have agreed to launch a strategic dialogue on the Iranian threat. This is stated in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In particular, it is reported that on Wednesday, July 23, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa'ar in Kyiv, who made his first bilateral visit to Ukraine as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel.
The heads of the Foreign Ministries held detailed negotiations on a wide range of issues, including security, humanitarian and economic cooperation, the development of innovations and joint projects. The diplomats paid special attention to regional security issues, in particular, a peaceful settlement in the Middle East.
"During the talks, the ministers agreed to launch a strategic dialogue between Ukraine and Israel on the Iranian threat. According to Andrii Sybiha, today both countries face common security challenges. Against the backdrop of these threats, the heads of the Foreign Ministries agreed to intensify multilateral and bilateral cooperation," the report says.
Sybiha stressed that Iran and russia pose an existential threat to global security, Iran continues to destabilize the region by developing its nuclear program and supplying weapons to terrorist groups. The minister emphasized that Moscow, Tehran and Pyongyang have united into a single group of criminal regimes that support each other and threaten the entire free world.
Sybiha also stated that Ukraine sees significant opportunities for deepening cooperation with Israel in such areas as medicine, energy, the agricultural sector and cybersecurity. He noted that Ukraine and Israel have significant potential in the field of defense technologies, and it is time to implement it together for the security and stability of both states.
Sybiha also noted that in 2024, trade turnover between Ukraine and Israel increased by more than 65% and amounted to almost a billion dollars, and this positive dynamics must be continued.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar arrived in Kyiv on an official visit.
He stated that Israel condemns russia's attacks on civilians.
