The head of the All-Ukrainian Union Batkivshchyna faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Yulia Tymoshenko, called the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the law that subordinates anti-corruption bodies to the Prosecutor General the beginning of the decolonization of Ukraine. Tymoshenko announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"A historic day. A day that we have been so persistently approaching. Today, the Verkhovna Rada has finally taken the first step towards the beginning of the decolonization of Ukraine. I believe that will happen next. Step by step, we will repeal all laws that deprive Ukraine of sovereignty," she noted.
During her speech in the Verkhovna Rada on July 22, Tymoshenko emphasized that the colonization of Ukraine is not a panacea for problems; the panacea for Ukraine's problems is a clear, constitutional, and balanced government, not what is being offered to Ukraine as a surrogate instead of the Constitution.
"And therefore, dear friends, we should not pass off turning Ukraine into a lawless colony as patriotism," the leader of Batkivshchyna emphasized.
She urged the Verkhovna Rada not to stop at this vote, but to repeal all laws that used international advisory councils and international supervisory councils, because, according to her, this deprives Ukraine of sovereignty.
Tymoshenko noted that her faction supported the creation of anti-corruption bodies, but, according to her, this did not reduce, but rather increased corruption in the country.
"The issue is not about anti-corruption structures, but about the shadow government that manages all processes in whose interests it is unknown," she said.
In her opinion, anti-corruption structures were guided by the principle of "friends and foes" in their work, which is why Ukrainians did not see criminal cases based on the results of the reports of the controlling bodies.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 22, the Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 12414, which subordinates anti-corruption bodies to the Prosecutor General, in particular, grants the Prosecutor General access to all cases of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the authority to independently sign suspicions against all top officials.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed this law on the same day, and it entered into force on July 23.
