This year, up to 90% of attacks on energy infrastructure were carried out by the enemy using drones.
The Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Ukrainian energy infrastructure is one of the strategic goals of the enemy. More than 700 attacks on energy facilities were recorded during the full-scale invasion, and this year up to 90% of attacks were carried out using UAVs. Therefore, together with the Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk, we held a joint meeting to synchronize efforts. The key goal is not only to react, but also to act proactively," he said.
Klymenko noted that during the meeting, the main emphasis was placed on:
protection of energy facilities - effective use of electronic warfare systems, strengthening the capabilities of mobile fire groups;
admission of rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine to the places of liquidation - clear algorithms, prompt response, coordinated interaction with the personnel of the facilities;
joint training - practice for coordinated teamwork.
In turn, the Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk reported on Facebook that enemy attacks on energy facilities have become more targeted and technological.
She also emphasized that the main challenge today is the massive use of UAVs by the enemy, so it is necessary to focus on new technologies and redirect resources to the purchase of effective anti-drone systems.
The Minister of Energy also noted that the issue of arranging reliable storage facilities for personnel at energy facilities is critical.
Hrynchuk assured that despite everything, preparations for winter are continuing successfully.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Kharkiv and Odesa Regions were under the main blow of the aggressor country russia on the night of Wednesday, July 16, with one of the targets being energy infrastructure.
