Used as decoy and reconnaissance aircraft. Defense Intelligence reveals components of new russian UAV

The Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has revealed the components of a new UAV, which the aggressor country russia uses as a decoy and a reconnaissance aircraft to detect Ukrainian air defense positions and overload them. According to some reports, it is also capable of carrying a warhead weighing up to 15 kg.

According to intelligence officers, the drone has a delta-wing fuselage, similar to the Shahed-136 (Geran-2), but much smaller. All components and blocks are of Chinese origin, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine noted.

The Defense Intelligence said that almost half of the components: a flight controller with an autopilot, navigation modules and antennas, an airspeed sensor and a pitot tube – are from one Chinese company, CUAV Technology, which specializes in research, development and production of system modules and applications for UAVs.

In October 2022, the company announced restrictions on the supply of its products to Ukraine and the russian federation in order to prevent their use for military purposes. However, according to intelligence officers, in 2023 the russian federation presented a vertical take-off UAV allegedly of its own design, which turned out to be a CUAV Technology product available on Aliexpress.

In addition to CUAV products, such UAVs use an engine and electronic ignition module of the DLE brand (Mile Haoxiang Technology Co., Ltd.), KST servos, a Razer FPV camera manufactured by Foxeer Technology, a Mayatech RFD900X data transmission module, a ReadyToSky video transmitter, a Hobbywing Technology power regulator, and an HRB Power battery.

The UAV is also equipped with a Chinese copy of the Australian RFD900x data transmission module from RFDesign. Like the original sample, the Chinese product is designed for long-distance data transmission (up to 40 km in direct line of sight, depending on the antenna), the intelligence officers emphasized.

"The specified device allows you to organize a data transmission channel from the drone to its ground station or from the UAV to the UAV, thus expanding the capabilities for conducting reconnaissance," the Defense Intelligence added.

The intelligence officers added that DLE engines had previously been used by the russian federation in the Gerbera and Parodiya UAVs, KST servos in the Shahed-136 (Geran-2) and V2U UAVs, universal planning and correction modules, and aviation bombs.
