During Hennadii Boholiubov's escape from Ukraine, NACB detectives were indeed on a business trip - at the invitation of the Stolen Asset Recovery Initiative (StAR), which is a joint program of the World Bank and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
The NACB has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The trip was official, agreed in advance and took place with the aim of participating in a series of bilateral meetings within the framework of the Global Forum on Asset Recovery, which was held on June 25-27 in Vienna.
The NACB stated that none of the participants in the trip were familiar with Boholiubov.
"NACB employees have nothing to do with the allegations made in the video, in particular regarding the so-called "aid in escape" or "cover compartment". The National Bureau, as an independent body for exposing top corruption, carries out its activities exclusively within the framework of the law. No person, regardless of position or status, has any influence on the course of investigations," the NACB reported.
The Bureau provided official confirmation from the organizers of the event - a letter from the StAR Initiative.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to the SSU, detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau helped the business partner of oligarch Ihor Kolomoiskyi, Hennadii Boholiubov, escape from Ukraine.
