Meeting of delegations of Ukraine and russia planned for July 23 in Turkey – Zelenskyy

A meeting of delegations of Ukraine and the aggressor country russia is planned for Wednesday, July 23, in Turkey. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in a traditional evening video address, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Today I discussed with Rustem Umerov the preparation of the exchange and another meeting in Turkey with the Russian side. Umerov reported that the meeting is planned for Wednesday. There will be more details tomorrow," he said.

Addressing participants in the annual meeting of heads of foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine on Monday, Zelenskyy noted that more dynamics are needed in the negotiations to end the war.

He also emphasized that truly effective negotiations can only be at the level of leaders.

Zelenskyy also reported that Ukraine is currently preparing at least one more exchange with russia – and the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov has suggested that the russian side hold a new meeting of representatives in Turkey.

According to the President, the agenda of the meeting is the return of prisoners, the return of children who were abducted by russia, and the preparation of a meeting of leaders.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, "Independent Türkçe" informed, citing diplomatic sources, that a new round of negotiations between russia and Ukraine is expected this week in Istanbul (Turkey), they will probably be held on July 23 or 24.

In June, Umerov stated that Ukraine intends to move on to discussing a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and dictator vladimir putin after the completion of negotiations with the aggressor country russia on humanitarian issues.
