Ukraine preparing to recover USD 6.9 billion from russian Gazprom under arbitration decisions - Zelenskyy

Ukraine is preparing specific steps to recover funds from russian Gazprom under international arbitration decisions. The amount is USD 6.9 billion. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy following the report of the Chairman of the Naftogaz of Ukraine national joint stock company Serhii Koretskyi.

Thus, Zelenskyy noted that in the context of preparing a meeting with Ukrainian Ambassadors and updating the tasks for diplomacy, he discussed with Koretskyi ways to implement arbitration decisions in favor of Ukraine.

"Currently, we already have several positive decisions of international arbitrations for a total amount of USD 6.9 billion. These are absolutely fair decisions that demonstrate the responsibility of russia and Gazprom and affirm the power of international law. We are preparing specific steps to recover these funds, and tomorrow the Ukrainian Ambassadors will receive the relevant instructions," the President said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in June, Naftogaz of Ukraine won an international arbitration case against russia's Gazprom. At that time, a Swiss tribunal ruled that the russian company must pay the Ukrainian side USD 1.37 billion.
