Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with former head of the Ministry of Strategic Industry and Trade Herman Smetanin and the ministry's team.
This was stated in the minister's message on the Telegram channel.
"Increasing Ukrainian weapons production is a key priority in defense. We discussed this with Herman Smetanin and the ministry's team. I thanked him for the work done at the head of the Ministry of Strategic Industry and Trade," the post says.
Denys Shmyhal noted that Ukraine has significantly scaled up production since the beginning of the large-scale war - 35 times, and has the potential to increase the indicators.
"Currently, the share of Ukrainian weapons at the front is 40%. We must reach 50%. This is the task set by the President. Drones, armored vehicles, ammunition - everything our soldiers need. We will continue to closely coordinate our work," he added.
It should be noted that Ukrainian News Agency previously reported that Herman Smetanin, after working at the Ministry of Strategic Industry, is to head Ukroboronprom.
