From January 2026, Poland plans to launch a large-scale campaign to update military records. More than 235,000 citizens will receive summonses to undergo a military medical examination. The procedure will be mandatory and will last from February 2 to April 30, excluding public holidays.
This is reported by the Wyborcza newspaper.
The purpose of this event is to assess the physical and mental fitness of individuals for military service. Summonses will be sent to men aged 19 and over, as well as to women who have an education or work in areas that are potentially useful to the army - in particular, these are doctors, IT specialists, translators, laboratory assistants and rehabilitation specialists.
Everyone who arrives at the examination will undergo a medical examination and an interview with a military representative. After that, their data will be entered into the military register. According to the procedure, each conscript will receive the initial rank of private, but a military ID card will be issued only to those who volunteer for service. All others will automatically be included in the passive reserve.
Based on the results of the medical commission, the person is assigned one of four fitness categories:
- A — fit for active service;
- B — temporarily unfit;
- D — unfit in peacetime, with the possibility of being called up in certain cases;
- E — completely unfit both in peacetime and in wartime.
Also, those men aged 20–24 who have not previously been registered or were temporarily unfit will be summoned to a mandatory commission. In case of failure to appear, administrative sanctions may be applied.
As a reminder, a resolution of the Council of Ministers on a detailed procedure for evacuating the population and ensuring the safety of property in the event of war with russia has come into force in Poland. It assigns key tasks to the heads of village councils, mayors, presidents, headmen and voivodes.
