Ruslan plane flew over Kyiv

For the first time in a long time since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainians have spotted a plane in the sky over Kyiv, despite the closed airspace over Ukraine. This was reported by Kyiv24 with reference to Dmytro Zhmailo, co-founder and executive director of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation.

Thus, it is reported that a number of local Telegram channels wrote that this was a passenger plane, but the publication notes that most likely it was an An-124 Ruslan cargo plane that flew over - a transport plane for transporting oversized cargo.

According to Zhmailo, there is an assumption that this is an An-124. The expert notes that the plane could have transported oversized cargo, for example, fuselages for F-16 fighters or certain anti-ship complexes.

Dmytro Zhmailo emphasizes that efficiency is important for the front. Although the main supplies still go by rail for safety reasons, air transportation would be much faster.

The Telegraf also notes that at the same time that the Ruslan was flying over Kyiv, the Flightradar24 service showed that an object with the call sign "PTNPNH2" was being recorded in the Kyiv Region. According to the service, this object arrived from Dnipro in the morning, after which it disappeared in the Cherkasy Region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 21 and 22, users of the Flightradar flight tracking service observed the movement of an unknown aircraft called Welcome around Lviv. Residents of the city heard the roar of engines. However, the government denied that the flights of the unknown aircraft were related to the restoration of air traffic.
